I am He who bears witness about Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness about Me. ~John 8:18 LSB
Happy Reformation Month
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed 95 arguments on the castle church door in Wittenberg, Germany. This ignited the Protestant Reformation which recovered Biblical fidelity, justification by faith alone, and many other doctrines we hold so dearly. Praise the Lord for His providence, and never forget.
Join us for Lord's Day worship at 11am and 6pm, Sunday School at 10am, and Wednesdays at 6pm. Take advantage of every opportunity to gather with the saints to worship our thrice holy God. Pastor Dave is leading us through John during worship and First John during Sunday School and Wednesdays.
As Justin fills the pulpit, we will be moving along through the book of Judges.
The new landscaping in front of the church looks great. Thank you Tracy.
Thanks to Tracy for working up some new hymns and some old hymns that are new to Bass, as we incorporate more from Hymns of Grace.
Spurgeon’s Catechism Questions for October
Week of 10/5/25
Q68
How may we escape the anger and curse of God that we deserve due to our sin?
To escape the anger and curse of God that we deserve due to our sin, we must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting alone to His blood and righteousness. This faith is accompanied by repentance for the past and leads to holiness in the future.
Week of 10/12/25
Q69
What is faith in Jesus Christ?
Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving gift, where we receive, and trust on Him alone for salvation, as He is explained in the Gospel.
Week of 10/19/25
Q70
What is repentance that leads to life?
Repentance that leads to life, is a saving gift, by which a sinner, out of a true sense of sin, with hope in the mercy of God through Christ, and with shame and hatred of their sin, turns from their sin to God, with a full determination to strive to obey God.
Week of 10/26/25
Q71
What are the external and normal ways the Holy Spirit uses to give us the benefits of Christ's redemption?
The external and normal ways the Holy Spirit uses to give us the benefits of redemption, are the Word of God, by which souls are born again to spiritual life, baptism, the Lord's Supper, prayer, and meditation, all of which strengthen believers in their most holy faith.
October Confession Reading: We have begun reading through our confession, the Second London Baptist Confession, as part of Sunday evening Worship.
10/5/25: 1.9
The infallible rule for interpreting Scripture is the Scripture itself. Therefore, when there is a question about the true and full meaning of any part of Scripture (and each passage has only one meaning, not many), it must be understood in light of other passages that speak more clearly.
10/12/25: 1.10
The supreme judge for deciding all religious controversies and for evaluating all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, human teachings, and individual interpretations, and in whose judgment we are to rest, is nothing but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit. In this Scripture our faith finds its final word.
10/19/25: 2.1
The Lord our God is one, the only living and true God. He is self-existent and infinite in being and perfection. His essence cannot be understood by anyone but him. He is a perfectly pure spirit. He is invisible and has no body, parts, or changeable emotions. He alone has immortality, dwelling in light that no one can approach. He is unchangeable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible, almighty, in every way infinite, absolutely holy, perfectly wise, wholly free, completely absolute. He works all things according to the counsel of his own unchangeable and completely righteous will for his own glory. He is most loving, gracious, merciful, and patient. He overflows with goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin. He rewards those who seek him diligently. At the same time, he is perfectly just and terrifying in his judgments. He hates all sin and will certainly not clear the guilty.

Come be fed the Word of God.
O God, hasten to deliver me;
O Yahweh, hasten to my help!
Let those be ashamed and humiliated
Who seek my life;
Let those be turned back and dishonored
Who delight in evil against me.
Let those turn back because of their shame
Who say, “Aha, aha!”
Let those be joyful and glad in You
All who seek You
And let them say continually,
“Let God be magnified,”
Those who love Your salvation.
But I am afflicted and needy;
Hasten to me, O God! ~Psalm 70 LSB
