Bass News for February 2026

And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.” ~John 9:39 NASB 1995

There are 52 Lord's Days in 2026 with which we get the pleasure to worship our Triune God corporately as the gathered body of Christ. Gratefully, the weather was cooperative for January. It appears that we may miss the first Lord's Day worship of February. Stay tuned to Bass Chapel social media accounts for schedule changes. Join us for Lord's Day worship at 11am and 6pm, Sunday School at 10am, and Wednesdays at 6pm. Take advantage of every opportunity to gather with the saints to worship our thrice holy God. Pastor Dave is leading us through John during worship.

As Justin fills the pulpit, we will be moving along through the book of Judge, and our confession on Wednesdays and during Sunday School.

Check the mission partners page at this link on the website for our updated list of missionaries.

Thanks to Tracy for working up some new hymns and some old hymns that are new to Bass, as we incorporate more from Hymns of Grace.

Spurgeon’s Catechism Questions for February

  • Week of 2/1/26 (even if we miss service due to weather, we will keep the same catechism schedule)

    • Q3

    • What do the Scriptures teach above all else?

    • Above all else the Scriptures teach people what to believe about God, and what commitment God requires of them.

  • Week of 2/8/26

    • Q4

    • What is God?

    • God is a Spirit. He is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.

  • Week of 2/15/26

    • Q5

    • Is there more than one God?

    • There is only one God, the living and true God.

  • Week of 2/22/26

    • Q6

    • How many persons are there in the Godhead?

    • There are three persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one God, the same in essence, equal in power and glory.

January Confession Reading: We have begun reading through our confession, the Second London Baptist Confession, as part of Sunday evening Worship.

  • 2/1/26: Snow Day

  • 2/8/26: 3.7

The doctrine of the high mystery of predestination is to be handled with special prudence and care so that those heeding the will of God revealed in his Word and obeying him may be assured of their eternal election by the certainty of their effectual calling. In this way this doctrine will give reasons for praise, reverence, and admiration of God, as well as humility, diligence and rich comfort to all who sincerely obey the gospel.

  • 2/15/26: 4.1

In the beginning God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit was pleased to create or make the world and all things in it, both visible and invisible, in a six-day period, and all very good. He did this to manifest the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness.

The Missionary Fellowship of William Carey by Michael Haykin will soon conclude. Join us as we look at the "father of modern missions." On deck is Sexual Fidelity by Mike Abendroth. This was the book that kicked off Ambassador Evangelism five years ago. Mike has updated the book, so we will revisit the new version. Schedule TBD.
