At His Feet 6/9/23

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

How many times have you made a decision based on what you see and what you feel? It looked great - it made you feel good -so it HAD to be the right decision. But… it was completely contrary to what the word of God taught you to be true.

Eve did exactly that. “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took the fruit and ate.” Genesis 3:6

And when she ate – the fruit was bitter- it was rotten – it was a lie. She had been deceived. It did not satisfy her, it brought shame and guilt. It brought separation from her husband and her God. It brought pain and it ultimately brought death.

You see, Satan never tempts us with the ugly. He never reveals what it will cost in the end. He only shows us what looks good and what feels good. And ladies, we are living in a time that literally BOMBARDS us from day to night, with what looks and feels good. There is nowhere safe from his lies – he has “wormed” his way into every aspect of our lives – our homes, schools and even our churches. The internet with social media may have made his job a little easier –BUT he is still the same enemy. He is the father of lies and he seeks to destroy you. “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44b

So – if we are surrounded by his lies – how do we recognize the lies as lies? How do we break the bonds of sin that have entangled us because of these false beliefs?

Well – we must learn what the TRUTH is for ourselves. Pilate asked what is truth? The Bible tells us exactly what it is. It is Jesus. He is “the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the father outside of him.” John 8:31-32 tells us Jesus said “If you hold to my teachings (THE BIBLE) you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The Bible was written to teach us about God, who He is and what He desires of us. The Bible is our authority, and it is our lie detector.

We are beginning a new study next week (Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6pm) called “Lies Young Women Believe” It will walk us through 25 of the most common lies that young women believe. Don’t let the title fool you – you may not be a young woman (I am NOT) but the Lord will meet you in the pages of His word. If you are young, join us. If you are older join us. Come,” taste and see that the Lord is good.” as we open His word to His truth.
